Aidan’s Friends Fund
Established in 2005, the fund was inspired by a dog named Aidan and the people who rescued him. The fund subsidizes the cost of spay/neuter surgeries for Harrisonburg and Rockingham County dogs and cats whose guardians could otherwise not afford the procedures.
In 2010, 148 dog surgeries and 874 cat surgeries were made possible with Aidan’s Friends funding. Your donation toward this fund can help save lives!
Pit Fix
The Clinic offers free spay/neuter surgeries for Pit Bulls and Pit Bull mixes residing in Harrisonburg and Rockingham County, VA. Funded by Aidan’s Friends Fund (see above), the program was developed in response to the high number of Pit Bulls entering the local shelter, leaving more and more of these animals to be killed without ever knowing the warmth of a home or the love of a family.
To take advantage of the program, please call the clinic to schedule an appointment. To receive a free spay/neuter surgery, the dog must be your personal family pet.
Pet Food Pantry
In an effort to minimize the number of cats and dogs that go hungry or are relinquished at our local animal shelter, the Clinic offers temporary pet food assistance for residents of Harrisonburg and Rockingham County.
To qualify for assistance, applicant must provide proof of government assistance or a combined household income of $30,000 or less to be presented when picking up food the first time after application is approved.
Applicants must also provide proof that pet(s) are spayed or neutered.
*The Shenandoah Valley Spay/Neuter Clinic can provide this service at no charge along with low-cost vaccinations at the time of surgery to pets of qualified individuals that are not already altered.
